🎶 Making music practice fun:
Less is more. If your child wants to play for 5 minutes and then walk away, ok! Encourage them to do something they enjoy and come back later. 🎶
Allow your child to play their favourite song over and over. Start with it. End with it! Practice new and difficult stuff in between. 🎶
Explore YouTube and other sites to find songs and different musical styles for inspiration. 🎶
Find a teacher that meets your child’s learning style. Some children thrive in a structured lesson (Eg. Royal Conservatory). Other children excel in a more relaxed, fun environment and may enjoy learning popular music or learning by ear. 🎶
Always celebrate small successes. Have your child play for family members or guests and applaud their efforts. 🎶

Listening activities:
🪐 Listen to Holst’s “Planets.” Have children listen, discuss and draw what they hear and are thinking about.
🍁 Listen to Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.” Discuss the instruments they hear. Have students draw or paint their favourite season.
. 🌳 Listen to rainforest music on YouTube. Have students close their eyes and name sounds and creatures they can hear. Students can create a mural, including plants and animals that relate to the music.
